Happy November! This month our featured Cause of the Month is Vine Sanctuary, an LGBTQ-led farmed animal sanctuary whose aim is to work for social justice and animal liberation. VINE stands for “veganism is the next evolution” as well as “veganism is not enough”, a perfect representation of the team’s values and their incredible efforts in addressing the intersections between speciesism and other forms of oppression.
Hip Hop is Green is the first plant-based hip hop health and wellness organization in the world! A small, family-run farm situated near Bellingham, Washington, Elf Sanctuary provides a home for animals who were at one time unwanted or abused. In 2017, Elf Sanctuary founder, Meika, and her mother sold their home in the city and bought a farm where they now care for cows, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats, many of whom were destined for slaughter, euthanasia, or a life of isolation or abuse.
This August, our selected partner is the Seattle-based nonprofit, Plant Based Food Share, or PBFS. Since its establishment over one year ago, PBFS has delivered over four thousand food boxes. The ultimate goal of Plant Based Food Share is to eliminate food insecurity and to improve the health and well-being of the diverse and underserved communities impacted by hardships due to COVID-19, poverty, and racism.
Happy July! This month our team is celebrating and partnering with Burrito Brigade, a nonprofit located in Eugene/Springfield, OR. Burrito Brigade tackles a very large problem in our community, food insecurity, by hand-delivering vegan meals for free - and not just any meal - vegan burritos! Burrito Brigade is also involved in a handful of other crucial services for those in need, such as little food pantries, food boxes, and assisting with other essential resources.
The Food Empowerment Project aims to raise awareness about how our food choices can impact the world. Through informed, ethical food choices, F.E.P. believes that each of us can make a difference and take a stand against abuses in the food industry.
This May, our selected Cause of the Month is Rooster Haus Rescue, a nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and gives or finds permanent homes for roosters who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or forced into the illegal practice of cockfighting.
Happy first day of April! We are elated to be sharing this month about an organization that is near and dear to our business, the Institute for Applied Ecology, or IAE. The Institute for Applied Ecology’s mission is, “to conserve native species and habitats through restoration, research and education”. Our team is particularly fond of the Institute for Applied Ecology because one of the species that the organization serves to protect is the Fender’s Blue butterfly and its habitat.
Support + Feed’s mission addresses many needs at once. At its core, Support + Feed provides plant-based meals prepared by local vegan restaurants to people experiencing food insecurity, particularly in BIPOC communities...
It’s the beginning of a new month, which for our team means we have another opportunity to highlight a wonderful organization that is working hard to meet a need in our community. For the month of February our team selected Heartwood Haven as our cause of the month.
