Elf Sanctuary
Doesn’t September feel like the first official leap toward fall? As much as our team loves the summer, autumn in the PNW is unmatched, and we are excited to see the changing colors and smell the rain again. More important: a new month allows us to welcome a new Cause of the Month partner! This month we are teamed up with Elf Sanctuary.
A small, family-run farm situated near Bellingham, Washington, Elf Sanctuary provides a home for animals who were at one time unwanted or abused. In 2017, Elf Sanctuary founder, Meika, and her mother sold their home in the city and bought a farm. Alongside a robust team of volunteers, Meika and her mother care for cows, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats, many of whom were destined for slaughter, euthanasia, or a life of isolation or abuse.
In addition to welcoming sanctuary volunteers, Elf Sanctuary also is a WWOOF host, which allows volunteers to stay on the site in exchange for help around the space or with the residents. It’s not easy to find vegan WWOOF hosts, so Elf Sanctuary stands out for all the right reasons. Both opportunities for service are temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but if you are interested in either of these two options, be on the lookout for updates in the future! Elf Sanctuary is also on Patreon where you can gain access to special posts and information if you become a monthly giving member. Be sure to visit Elf Sanctuary’s website and socials for other ways to get involved or to learn more about their residents!
A portion of our sales through the end of September will be donated to our Cause of the Month.
